Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to the Carmuirs Primary School website.

It has been my privilege to serve the community of Camelon as Headteacher for the past 11 years.

Carmuirs Primary School is a very good school with a staff who are highly committed to the improvement of experiences and outcomes for our children. There is a real ethos of teamwork and a determination by everyone to provide an excellent education for our pupils and instill in them a lifelong love of learning. Pupil leadership and pupil voice are embedded within school culture and teachers plan learning in partnership with the children. The school was highly praised by HMIe when they visited for a week in 2013 and during regular validation visits by Falkirk Council staff.

Our vision statement is ‘Be All You Can Be’ and children are taught that through determination and perseverance all things are possible.

Carmuirs Primary is a very nurturing school and we are determined to remove barriers to learning to ensure that all of our pupils have the best possible learning experiences. Many of the children in our school are affected by ‘Adverse Childhood Experiences’ (ACES) and staff have attended training in order to develop strategies to support these children. Equity is very important so we ensure that all children are given what they need to succeed so that they can fully engage in learning.

We have strong parental links and parents are very involved in improving our school community. Parents are involved in the Parent Council, the Fundraising Group, the Healthy Hut Tuck Shop, Let’s Cook Group for Pr. 7 pupils, maintaining the school garden and planters, going on trips, running after school clubs, decorating the float for Mariner’s Day, Creating wall displays, Library helper etc. Please contact the school if you would like to get involved in any of these activities.

I hope you enjoy visiting our website and following us on Twitter.
